Conduct simulations and analysis to evaluate and enhance the safety features of vehicles. This role involves working closely with design teams, utilizing CAE tools to predict vehicle behavior in crash scenarios, and ensure that designs meet safety standards and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Perform crash simulations, including frontal, side, rear impact, and rollover scenarios, using CAE software (e.g., LS-DYNA, ANSYS).
- Analyze vehicle structures and components to assess crashworthiness and occupant safety.
- Evaluate and optimize vehicle safety systems, including airbags, seatbelts, and crumple zones.
- Develop and validate finite element models of vehicles and components.
- Work with CAD teams to integrate models and ensure accurate representations in simulations.
- Correlate simulation results with physical test data to refine models and improve prediction accuracy.
- Collaborate with design engineers to suggest modifications that improve vehicle safety.
- Optimize vehicle structures and components to enhance performance while minimizing weight and cost.
- Conduct trade-off studies to balance safety, performance, and manufacturability.
- Ensure that vehicle designs meet or exceed safety regulations and standards (e.g., FMVSS, Euro NCAP).
- Prepare documentation and reports for regulatory submissions and certification processes.
- Work closely with other engineering teams, including mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing, to ensure integrated vehicle safety solutions.
- Participate in design reviews, providing expert input on safety-related aspects.
- Stay updated on the latest CAE methodologies, safety standards, and vehicle safety technologies.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of best practices in vehicle safety analysis
